Dangerous Noise: It's More Common Than You Think

Some people think that dangerous noise levels are something that is associated with industrial work settings, not everyday life. But, in today’s modern and technologically driven society, dangerous noise is something each of us face on nearly a daily basis.

Consider things like lawn mowers, leaf blowers, power tools and the like. They all produce very high levels of noise, and if used even for only a few hours, can significantly challenge your short-term, and even long-term hearing health. The noise produce inside some airplanes is potentially risky. Even traffic noise on a busy city street can be of concern. Not to mention loud music, and especially loud music delivered in concentration right to the ear via earphones.

In today’s society, it is necessary to recognize that dangerous noise is pervasive, and if one wants to keep their hearing healthy, it is necessary to take steps like wearing ear plugs, turning down the volume, or restricting the amount of time devoted to certain noise activities.
