Ear Trumpet app sets a standard for future hearing tests
An app for hearing tests? I never would have expected that one day people would be able to test their own hearing with an iPhone app, but times have changed. Recently there has been a large amount of medical and health related apps flooding the app market. Although the concept of apps is fairly new to the audiology field, we at AuDNet are always excited about fresh new ways to promote hearing healthcare. This week I will discuss one of our favorites - Ear Trumpet, which is a new app that aims to both test hearing and make hearing easier for the user.
Ear Trumpet uses the iPhone headphones and built in microphone in order to create a test that is equal to any simple hearing test you could get in an audiologists office. Now this does not give you the same results as an actual visit to a highly trained and advanced-degreed audiologist, however it leaves open a future where initial hearing tests can be done in more technologically advanced ways.
Now how can an iPhone app help improve hearing? It sounds impossible but Ear Trumpet gives the user the ability to change the frequency of certain sounds. The ability to control sounds to fit your own hearing is an amazing feat.
Maybe one day an iPhone will work as a hearing aid! Click here to view more information on the Ear Trumpet app.
