David Smirga, M.A. of AuDNet was featured in an Audiology Online video this week that recapped the efforts of the AuDNet enterprise, which began nine years ago. Often asked: Why the Nation needs a commercial brand to market Audiology? Smirga explained the reasoning behind the company’s creation. Simple speaking, AuDNet strives to create demand for Audiology care in the consumer marketplace. Why is this needed? And how does it work?

As a ‘commercial enterprise’ the company markets Audiology and Audiologists to consumers because the marketing that existed prior was in short, without audiology content. This was especially true in the online marketplace were consumer choices were heavily bent towards the products within the industry rather than to the specialists that inhabit it.  For example, stats from Google AdWords reveal that “hearing aids” is researched far more by the consumer than “Audiologists” or “Audiology,” the health care behind hearing wellness.  It was evident there was “a disconnect” between the medical practice and consumer knowledge about it, Smirga states. Therefore AuDNet set out to “make Audiology a household word. That’s our mission. That’s our focus,” Smirga said.

Essentially the company provides the consumer with a network of highly qualified and trusted audiologists who can be easily located.  The system takes the guess work out of finding the proper place for your hearing care.  And since the company prides itself on the fact that the network is constructed by simple and sound principles- for example, that you must hold a license and there cannot be any outstanding complaints about you or your practice, in order to join AuDNet- consumers know they are getting a guaranteed product.
