Ear Doctors or Hearing Doctors?
There has been some confusion as to whether NOWiHEAR Audiologists are better described as "ear doctors" or "hearing doctors." We at NOWiHEAR would like to offer a brief explanation: Although many of our patients refer to NOWiHEAR Audiologists as "ear doctors," this is actually a misnomer. Ear, nose, and throat (ENT) physicians are more accurately described as "ear doctors." NOWiHEAR Audiologists are more commonly referred to as "hearing doctors" because they specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of hearing and balance disorders that are not typically treated medically or surgically.
